Genitori e, in senso lato, la parentela
 
Sappiamo di alcuni il nome, la data scritta a penna dietro una foto, risaliamo indietro nel tempo attraverso brandelli di racconti che fissano istanti della loro vita. Cerchiamo tracce della rete invisibile che li lega a noi, a quelle somiglianze che ci apparentano. Cerchiamo di capire attraverso loro come siamo diventati noi. Tenere in mano vecchie fotografie, sentirne la superficie immaginando di entrare nella loro dimensione mi ha suggerito un’elaborazione rispettosa del mondo della fotografia prima del colore e di quel mondo di persone che la abitavano. Nel repertorio si ripetono i ruoli: c’è la giovane, la donna matura, la coppia di sposi, i cacciatori, il motociclista. Persone e oggetti strettamente legati, tanto da creare l’atmosfera di quel tempo. Ciascuno di noi possiede una scatola di fotografie e osservandole cerca di ricostruire la storia delle proprie origini, di quella gente che ci ha preceduto. Non basta identificare un corpo, un volto. Cerchiamo di indagarne i pensieri nascosti. Ogni dettaglio è prezioso e fa immaginare.
 
 
Parents and, broadly speaking, relatives and kins. We know the names of some of them, a date written with a pen on the back of a photo, and we go back in time through the fragments of stories that fix moments of their lives. We look for traces of the invisible net that connects them to us, those similarities that relate us to them. We try to understand how we have become what we are through them. Holding old pictures in my hands, feeling their surface imagining to enter their dimension has prompted me to indulge in a respectful processing of the world of photography before colour and of that world of people that lived in it. In the collection we find the same subjects over and over again: the girl, the adult woman, the married couple, the hunters, the motorcyclist. People and objects strictly connected, so as to create the atmosphere of the time. We all have a box of old pictures and when we look at them we try to retrace the history of our origins, of the people who came before us. It is not enough to identify a body, a face. We attempt to investigate their hidden thoughts. Every detail is precious and leads our imagination
 
 

Giorgio Bormida affronta la fotografia digitale con le stesse meticolosità e riflessione che caratterizzano un’opera pittorica.
L’artista ricorre infatti al software e al virtuale per dare spazio atmosferico e nuova corporeità temporale a pochi dettagli raccolti con la macchina fotografica.
L’attività di Bormida non si rivolge esclusivamente all’arte visiva ma include quella scenografica e teatrale. Anche da ciò deriva l’ambientazione estremamente avvolgente e stratificata delle sue visioni.
