Sulle muêë (murate) veniva affinata la terra, dopo essere stata prelevata dalla vasca di decantazione, “balesata” (impastata) a mano con movimenti molto precisi a formare una palla e poi lanciata appunto, sulle muêë, dove lentamente l’acqua in eccesso scivolava via permettendo così’ all’argilla di raggiungere la giusta consistenza per essere modellata.

Il corpo come metafora dell’argilla dunque. Dall’acqua alla terra e poi nel fuoco.

Plasmato e modellato, il corpo prende forma nello spazio delineandosi, fino a farne scaturire l’anima.

Una suggestione visiva profondamente sensoriale in cui si fondono immagine suono e movimento.

Emergono nitidi i suoni degli elementi lavorati: acqua, terra, argilla e fuoco, e proprio dalla terra e dal lavoro dell’uomo il corpo prende forma e si delinea in un lento costruirsi, fatto di micro movimenti e gesti.

Ogni rumore che si può registrare durante l’interazione tra terra e mani diventa colonna sonora della performance, mescolandosi ad altri suoni dell’ambiente. E’ la musica, il ritmo interiore di chi sta plasmando e di ciò che viene plasmato.

Molti muri del centro storico di Albissola (Sv) sono rivestiti da file parallele di mattoni a sbalzo. Si tratta di un antico sistema (usato ancora oggi) inventato dai ceramisti per l’asciugatura dell’argilla fresca. Grazie alle fessure appositamente lasciate tra un mattone e l’altro, l’acqua in eccesso presente nell’argilla può colare lungo il muro. Appena il blocco di terra è pronto viene staccato dal muro e lavorato dal ceramista. In dialetto albisolese questi muri vengono chiamati muêë. La presenza delle muêë indica che un tempo (o ancora oggi) qui c’era una fornace. (MuDA Museo Diffuso Albissola).
 
 
NOMBRIL PROJECT nasce come progetto a latere di emsteludanza, Associazione Culturale.

Pensando a emsteludanza come ad un corpo, NOMBRIL PROJECT ne è una sua parte, concretizzatasi grazie alla collaborazione con l’artista Giorgio Bormida.
 
 
 
Muêë aims at focusing on the ancient procedure of working with ceramics.

The dirt used to be refined on the walls (muêë) after being taken from the settlement tub, kneaded by hand with very precise movements so as to shape a ball, and afterwards thrown against the muêë, where the water in excess slowly slipped down, letting the clay get the right consistency in order to be modelled.

The body, therefore, is seen as a metaphor of clay. From Water to Earth and then in Fire.

Moulded and modelled, the body takes shape in the space outlining itself, until its soul springs out from it.

It is a deeply sensory visual suggestion, accompanied by a skilful use of lights and a soundtrack realized specifically for the performance, with a strong emotional impact.

Numerous walls in the historical center of Albissola (Liguria,Italy) are covered by parallel lines of projecting bricks. It is an old system (in use until today) which was invented by potters to dray the wet clay.

Thanks to the gaps left between the bricks deliberately, the excess water can trickle down the wall. As soon as the block of clay is ready, it is taken by the potter to be processed. In the dialect of Albissola such walls are called muêë. The presence of muêë proves that once (or still today) a kiln was situated nearby. (MuDA Museum Albissola)

NOMBRIL PROJECT originates as a project in parallel with emsteludanza, Cultural Association.

Conceiving emsteludanza as a body, NOMBRIL PROJECT is a part of it, which is actualized thanks to the collaboration with artist Giorgio Bormida.
